My name is Jessi Crippin. I am the wife of the most wonderful man, Kris and mom to the cutest kid ever, Hardin. When Kris and I were married we moved to Louisiana. A few months after moving to The Pelican State, I was blessed to have the opportunity to teach at Calvary Baptist School in Slidell. I can honestly say I loved everyday working there. I loved my job. I loved getting up to go teach "my kids." I loved the people I worked with. I just loved it!!!! Don't get me wrong there were some not great moments, but when you are doing what you are created for, those moments are just passing. I did learn a great deal from those unpleasant snap shots of time. They taught me lessons on communication. I taught there for almost four years.
I love doing a weekly newsletter. This helps the parents know what is going on in the classroom as well students homework for the next week. I don't like giving a lot of homework, because I know their parents want to spend time with them...not being up all night doing homework. I like making binders for them at the beginning of the year. It has all the policies and procedures in it as well as space for notes, homework, and taking things home. This helps them to stay neat and organized.We have fun in my classroom. One of my kids told me once, "Mrs. C you make school not so bad." I guess I'll take that :-). The most important thing is I am teaching them to think. I want them to use their brains for more than just memorization. I want them to think for themselves, to think creatively and to use their imagination. When their brains are being used in such ways is when they learn the most.
