So I saw this fraction activity on www.lessonplansos.blogspot.com Since I live right outside of NOLA and we are ALL ABOUT OUR SAINTS, I decided to do this with football. It just so happened that today we started fractions and it was Saints day here at CBS.
So I made my own little spin:
I took four pieces of crumpled up brown paper (for footballs)
Made a Jersey
Took a paper plate and drew a target on it
The kids had four tries to be Drew Brees and hit Colston's hands.
They then wrote their denominator (which has to be said in a Governor of California way) which is four. Then they threw the footballs at the paper plate and wrote their numerator (which is said in a high pitch voice because it's on top), the number of times they hit the target.
Then from there we figured out their "completion" rate...in percentages.
Of course we called it SUPER SAINTS FRACTION FOOTBALL
